In 1929, Richard Steiff registered a patent for a teddy bear design with what he deemed to have "the most vivacious smiling expression". The bear had the annotation "Teddy Baby D R P.a" ("German Empire Patent Pending"). However, the design was not patented and was instead given a trademark in 1930. This beautiful replica of the original design is made from corn-coloured alpaca and is stuffed with wood shavings in the traditional way.
He is limited to only 929 pieces and has a patinated steel underscored "Button in Ear"and his tag features the original annotation "Teddy Baby D R P.a". He is presented with a numbered certificate in a Steiff gift box with a cardboard outer sleeve.
He will be delivered in a Steiff box with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
